Recruitment

Hi friend!

We are so glad you are interested in joining Sigma Phi Lambda! Recruitment only happens once a year, in the beginning of the fall semester. It’s three days long and is designed as a commitment-free way for you to come check out who we are and what we are all about as a sisterhood.  You are welcome to come to one day or all three days of recruitment. This year, our recruitment theme is adventure. “Life takes you to unexpected places, Phi Lamb brings you home.” We want you to come join this adventure and find a home in Phi Lamb. Recruitment is going to be August 22-24, 2016 at 7pm in the Browsing Room, which is located on the second floor of Edmon Low Library. The first and second night of recruitment is casual dress, but for the third and final night we like to dress up in our Sunday best. However, don’t let clothes hold you back from joining us that night, we will never turn you away! Our recruitment chairs are working so hard to ensure that this is a fun and welcoming experience for our potential new members.

We believe that God loves each and every person on this earth and we are called to love each and every person. Because of this, Phi Lamb accepts every woman that would like to join our sorority. We believe you should pick us, not the other way around.

Phi Lamb is an incredible group of girls and it is such a fun organization to be a part of. We host several events throughout the year, as well as lots of casual activities. As with any group, there is a time commitment to be involved in this group. Here is a run-down of the meetings, events and activities to be expecting. Members are required to attend a weekly Chapter meeting that occurs on Sunday evenings. This includes every active member of the sorority. Lambs are also required to attend a weekly Prayer Group meeting. This is a group of 7-10 girls and they will act as accountability partners…you’ll just do life with them! In addition to these weekly requirements, we will have fun events here and there for y’all to enjoy, like date parties, formal, weekend retreats, sisterhood events and open parties. Service is a big part of our sisterhood, so we coordinate service projects for our members to partake in. Each member is also required to be attending a local church and a local bible study of their choosing each week.

Don’t be afraid to come alone to recruitment! Many of our members took a leap of faith and came to recruitment by themselves, and it turned out to be one of their greatest decisions. Sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage, twenty seconds of embarrassing bravery and I promise, something good will come of it! (p.s. We Bought A Zoo is the cutest movie ever!)

We are praying for each and every one of you girls who are considering joining Phi Lamb, that God would lay it on your heart to crave a genuine, Christ-filled community of fellow believers. Let us be the reason you look back on your college years as the best time of your life! 🙂

Love,

The Members of Phi Lamb
