“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18
The first part of this verse is saying that we need to give thanks in all circumstances which is way easier said than done. For me personally, it is so difficult to be in a rough situation and look up to God and say thank you. I feel as though I am being punished and instead of giving thanks for the situation, like I am told to, I tend to ask God why. Why is he doing this to me and how do I go about this situation? I know in my heart that he doesn’t put us in a hard situation to punish us, I still think that sometimes. He puts us in situations to prepare us for something greater. “for God’s will for you who belongs to Christ Jesus.” He is the all knowing and He knows that even though we may not like the situation He has put us in, He knows it will help us in the long run. He knows what He has in store for us and He has plans for us that is so much bigger than what we have planned for ourselves. We belong to Christ Jesus. We are His and that just makes me feel so unbelievably loved. We are His and He knows each of us by name. How cool is that?? He has a special plan for each of us that He has designed. We go through the struggles we do so that through those struggles He can show you His love. And through those struggles, we can slowly start t put together those puzzle pieces to our plan He created for us. Through those struggles, we see that He is right there. Always, He is right there, He is never leaving us because we are HIS.
“The Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7
I feel as though this was written for those people who feel unwanted at times to show that he uses everyone for his glory. We all have those moments where we don’t know what we are doing, we feel like we don’t fit in, or we just feel like we aren’t ‘popular’, but none of that matters to God. Moses ran from justice, Samson ran to the wrong women, Jacob ran in circles, Sarah ran out of hope, and the list goes on and on. God used all of them, he didn’t care what they did in the past, He loved them anyway and He wanted them. Im sure the people around them judged them for what they looked like or what they were doing because all they looked at was what was on the outside. God saw their hearts and instead of seeing them as screw ups or nobodies, He saw a heart that was seeking him. When God finds a heart that is set on him, He claims that heart and calls it to serve Him. God knows your heart. He knows that your heart is set on Him and he is calling you to a great purpose.
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” – Jeremiah 31:3
There are somedays when I feel like I am not enough for anyone, or that I feel like a have messed up so many times that there is no way that there is some great plan made for me. I feel as though we all have those days. But reading this, makes all those feelings go away. God loves us so much, and not just from the moment we were born. He loved us before we were born, and he will love us for long after..that is just so crazy to me. I do not deserve God’s love and grace but I have it anyway! We are so loved by him, He knows us by name and He even knows how many hairs are on our head. He created us with unfailing kindness, and He wants a relationship with us! He deserves a relationship with us, we need to make an effort. It is so important to spend time in the word an pray over it everyday because thats how He speaks to us. He wants to talk to us, and He wants us to listen for Him.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Mathew 28:19-20
“I am with you always” was the last words Jesus Christ said before he ascended into Heaven. As christians we are called to go out and make disciples of Jesus but many of us ignore it in their daily lives. There are not very many people that go out everyday and make it their goal to show Christ’s love, and I believe that its because many of us are scared to. I used to be so scared that I could go up to the wrong person and say the wrong thing and possibly drive that person further away from Christ. When I came across this verse a couple of years ago in my youth group, I felt like I was so silly to think that because this verse tells us that He is with us always and that He has commanded us to go out and share is love. When we change our mindset and make Jesus Christ the focal point of our lives, and put school or work on the back burner, the pieces of our lives that we couldn’t figure out before, just start to fall into place, and we need to share that with people. When we make Jesus the focal point of our lives, He will help us say the right things to the right people. He will help us make disciples for Him.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23
We all sin. No of us is perfect, but we are all still forgiven. God forgives each and everyone of us every single day so that we do not have to carry our sins alone. He died for us so that we wouldn’t have to. When I have sinned and ask for forgiveness, it is so hard for me to let it go. I feel as though I need to carry that burden and pain with me because I have done God wrong and I shouldn’t just let it go so easily. But thats what Jesus died for! He died so that we would always be forgiven and thats so important to keep in mind. You are so loved by Christ and He died for you. Do not feel as though you need to carry your pain and burdens alone because Jesus is there to carry them for you. You are forgiven because Jesus loves you and died for you!!
