Cast all your cares on him, because he cares for you. -1 peter 5:7
Christ carried the cross; he sacrificed his life so that we could be free. Free from bondage, free from shame, free from chains and free to start over. We each have a story. A story that is specifically unique to express who God is in our lives. Often, we shy away from sharing struggles or past mistakes in our story, but those things are what brought us to the cross. The cross is a reminder that we all have an opportunity to start over. Sometimes we degrade ourselves of what we have done and are afraid to come to God, because we think he will be ashamed of us, but guess what? It’s the total opposite. Through him we can release our broken mess and he will wrap us up in his gracious, constant, forgiving and selfless love. God cares about our brokenness. Admitting brokenness to our king is an act of complete submission, which gives God the authority to work in us. It’s through that time of submission that Gods kindness leads us to repentance. God wants nothing more for us to be vulnerable with him, because he cares for you. Don’t be ashamed of your story, because it’s a story of how God has brought you out of your deepest moments. Embrace your struggles, because we have the almighty Lord, the King of Kings on our side to help us.
Take a moment to listen to My Victory by Crowder and reflect on how Christ is covering his amazing grace over you and that you have victory through him.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. -Ephesians 6:10-17
Stand firm in faith. The enemy is lurking and waiting to attack at any moment. Ephesians 6 is a heavy verse that declares how prevalent the enemy wants to defeat us. When we are striving for the Lord, the enemy is right behind us striving to tear us down and ready to put up a fight. The temptation that comes from the enemy may look appealing, but all he wants to do is use that temptation to destroy us and steer us away from the truth. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” The devils presence is real and evil. Wake up and stand against this battle. Be on the front lines for the Lord, because in the end God has the victory. God is on our side and he has the power to defeat darkness. He has already won, but be ready and put on the full armor of God with the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, feet planted in the gospel, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit. Get ready and gear up, because a time is coming where it will be harder to proclaim Gods truth. Let’s join together and fight the good fight!
Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our maker. –Psalms 95:6
Worship is more than just words, more than a rhythm or a catchy song to sing to. It’s a submission to the Lord to set the focus on God rather than ourselves. It’s a chance for us to lay down what may be holding us back in our relationship with him. God sees all aspects of our life, even the ones we don’t really want to see ourselves. God’s presence is everywhere, which means we can worship him at all times. Do I need to say that again? ALL times. You don’t have to wait for the next church service to worship and it doesn’t even have to be a song to sing to. Worship can look different for everyone. Prayer, singing, reading scripture are all forms of worship. Whatever way that you worship to the Lord, make it meaningful and genuine. God doesn’t want someone who is giving him 10%. He deserves all of our devotion and praise. God wants our attention and focus, which means he ultimately wants our time. We may set aside time to spend with God each day, but what happens is that we so often rush into that time with him and we fail to even begin hearing from him. Don’t set a time limit on God, because you may be missing out if time is rushed.
Take a moment to step into an act of worship, however that looks like for you. Give God your all. If you have time, then listen to ONLY YOU by David Crowder band and allow your only focus to be on the Lord.
Today, reflect on who God is. We often forget of how God is constantly sustaining us. Take some time to meditate on these verses and reflect on the characteristics of God.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. –Hebrews 13:8
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. -1 John 4:8
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. -1 John 1:5
This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. –Psalm 18:30
The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.” –Exodus 34:6-7
Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way. –Psalm 25:8
But God made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding. When he thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; he makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses. –Jeremiah 10:12-13
After reflecting on these verses, begin thanking God for how his characteristics has impacted your life and then pray that God would reveal more of himself to you. Let God be God to you.
If we want to flourish in our relationship with Christ then we have to let go and let God. This phrase sounds easy, but letting go is extremely difficult. I want to share a personal experience with you all about this, because gosh girls God is so evident when we listen and respond to letting go. A year and a half ago I said goodbye to a three year relationship that was rotting me to my soul. For so long God had convicted me to break up with this person and time after time I would base my feelings or our history as an excuse to not obey God. Overtime I became trapped in sin and failing miserably in my walk with Christ to the point I stopped trying to pursue him. Satan had me in a deep pit that seemed impossible to climb out of. My heart was sick, and I constantly kept giving into temptation and making the wrong choices over and over. It didn’t matter who I hurt in the process, I just did what I wanted, but guess what? Throughout this time of doing what I wanted I felt empty, alone and depressed. I wasn’t happy at all. I was just a girl who was rejecting God and disobeying. God still continued to convict me and pursue me and girls; it took my parents telling me that I needed to break up with this person to get me out of the pit. For a while I was angry and bitter at them for making me do it, but wow was God all over the situation. I soon began to see the unhealthiness in my life and how satan used that relationship to destroy my soul. I spent nights crying out to God, because I was so ashamed of how I let satan have a grip on me, but as I came to God in my brokenness he showered me with his grace. Wow, if that isn’t love then I don’t know what is. Through my weakness God was still present and working. Since I wasn’t listening to God he used my parents to do the job that I couldn’t do myself. God never stopped pursing me, like what?? He cared so deeply that he orchestrated for this situation to happen. Yes, for a while I was angry but I began to see the beauty in Christ and his constant love for me. I was literally at my worst and God picked me out of darkness and into his glorious light. I began to trust him and his plan for me and soon received a shower of blessings. Today, I seek to serve and love Christ in everything I do, because I know that he is all that I need. My relationship with my parents is stronger than ever before and it’s all because of God. I continue to thank God for where has brought me from and I thank phi lamb, because being a part of this community of girls and having the accountability has pushed me to grow spiritually deeper every day. Girls I can’t stress this enough, but obey God when he is telling you to do something. Don’t wait too long like I did and get yourself in a pit. The enemy will attack, but remember that Gods way is incredibly better than our own!! Trust his way and faith in his plan, because it truly is the best. Daily live out let go and let God and I can assure you that God will reveal himself to you.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. –Jeremiah 29:11
